Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is auctioning a three-night stay in its Royal Suite built around the total solar eclipse that will be visible from Ibiza on 12 August 2026.
A rare event
Total solar eclipses visible from a given place are rare, and the August eclipse is the first visible from Spain in more than a century. For Ibiza, it coincides with the height of summer and with the Perseid meteor shower, which peaks around the same dates.
The package
The winner will stay in the hotel’s Royal Suite, in Talamanca bay, from 11 to 14 August. The suite sleeps two adults and a child. The package includes:
- a private yacht trip to watch the eclipse and, at night, the Perseids;
- a sushi masterclass with a Nobu chef;
- a “celestial” chef’s table dinner on board, with dishes inspired by the night sky;
- a premium tequila tasting and wellness treatments;
- further dining experiences during the stay.
The auction
Bidding starts at €50,000, and the highest bidder wins. Part of the proceeds will go to Ibiza Preservation, a foundation that supports environmental projects on the island, from protecting seagrass meadows to reducing plastic waste.
Watching safely
For anyone watching the eclipse — on a yacht or from a beach — the same rule applies: never look directly at the Sun without certified eclipse glasses or a proper solar filter, except during the brief period of totality when the Sun is completely covered. Ordinary sunglasses do not protect the eyes.
Hotels, restaurants and tour operators across the Balearics are preparing special events for the eclipse, which is expected to bring additional visitors to the islands in what is already the busiest month of the year.
