The Consell d’Eivissa (Ibiza Island Council) is finalising winter timetables for the island’s new public transport contract that will deliver a 48.96 per cent increase in monthly bus trips compared with November 2025. The expanded schedule takes effect during the first winter season under the contract launched last April.
Near 50 per cent more trips
The new contract already envisaged a 37.68 per cent rise, providing 26,128 monthly trips versus the 18,977 reference figure from November 2025. The Council has since added further frequency adjustments, pushing the total to 28,267 monthly trips — 9,290 more than last winter.
First vice-president and mobility councillor Mariano Juan said the winter timetables reflect months of monitoring since the April launch. “One of the features of the new contract is that it allows us to adapt the service to the needs we detect,” he said.
Biggest gains on inter-municipal corridors
The three main inter-municipal routes see the largest percentage increases:
- T1 (Sant Antoni–Eivissa via Sant Rafel): up 80.83 per cent, from 2,060 to 3,725 monthly trips.
- T3 (Santa Eulària–Eivissa): up 74.65 per cent, from 1,692 to 2,955 monthly trips.
- T2 (Sant Antoni–Eivissa via Sant Josep): up 42.06 per cent, from 1,260 to 1,790 monthly trips.
Urban and residential lines doubled in places
Urban routes linking neighbourhoods and residential areas also receive substantial reinforcements:
- U2 (Eivissa–Can Misses–Puig d’en Valls–Jesús): up 105.46 per cent, 696 to 1,430 trips.
- U7 (Eivissa–Can Misses–sa Carroca–Sant Jordi): up 101.43 per cent, 488 to 983 trips.
- U5 (Sant Antoni–Can Bonet–Can Coix): up 52.14 per cent.
- U11 (Santa Eulària–Siesta): up 36 per cent.
- U6 (Santa Eulària–es Canar): up 25.57 per cent.
Previously sparse routes see dramatic relative growth. Line A6 (Sant Joan–Cala Sant Vicent) jumps from 40 to 144 monthly trips, while A7 (Eivissa–Sant Jordi–ses Salines) rises from 48 to 144. A new 21:30 departure is added on T6 (Eivissa–Sant Llorenç–Sant Joan) and A9 (Eivissa–Santa Gertrudis–Sant Miquel–Port de Sant Miquel).
Residents’ associations to be consulted
The Council will present the planned changes to residents’ associations in affected zones before the final winter timetables are published. The aim, according to Juan, is to make public transport “an increasingly useful alternative for residents, also during the winter months” by improving frequencies and connections between municipalities, neighbourhoods and population centres.
