The luxury fashion house Loewe is preparing to open a new boutique on the Passeig del Born, Palma’s most exclusive shopping street.
The location
The Born, in the heart of the old town, is already home to brands such as Louis Vuitton and Rolex, and has become Mallorca’s premier destination for luxury shopping.
What it will sell
The store will offer Loewe’s handbags, clothing, accessories, leather goods and shoes. No opening date has been announced, but the company has advertised jobs for the shop, including a team leader position, suggesting it will open soon.
Jobs
The vacancies range from sales associates to management roles, as Loewe builds a team for its Palma store.
A Spanish brand with a long history
Loewe was founded in Madrid in 1846 as a workshop of leather craftsmen and later became an official supplier to the Spanish royal household. Since 1996 it has been part of the French luxury group LVMH, alongside Louis Vuitton and Dior.
Under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson, who led the brand for more than a decade, Loewe became one of the most admired names in fashion, known for its craftsmanship, sculptural shapes and subtle details rather than prominent logos. The brand’s Puzzle bag became one of the most recognisable designs of recent years.
The Born and luxury retail
The arrival of more luxury brands on the Born reflects Palma’s growing appeal to wealthy visitors and residents, as well as the rising number of yachts and high-end hotels on the island. At the same time, the shift has changed the character of the street: many traditional shops have closed in recent decades as rents have risen, a trend that has prompted debate about the future of commerce in Palma’s historic centre.
