Tana Rivera, the Spanish public figure and daughter of bullfighter Francisco Rivera and the late Duchess of Alba’s daughter Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, is the face of a summer selection from the Spanish jeweller Rabat.
A collection inspired by the sea
The selection is built around summer light and the sea. Its centrepiece is the Rabat Waves bracelet, whose flowing lines are designed to evoke rolling waves, sea grass moving in the current and sunlight on the water. It is made in white, yellow and rose gold.
Alongside it are necklaces, earrings and rings using the same wave motif, designed to be worn from day into evening.
Jewellery as memory
Rivera has spoken of jewellery as something more than decoration: a special piece, she says, can carry memories of particular moments and people. The summer pieces are designed to be simple and timeless rather than tied to a passing trend.
The company
Rabat began as a small family workshop in Badalona, near Barcelona, in 1977, and its jewellery is still made there. Today the company has shops in several Spanish cities, including Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Ibiza.
The firm combines traditional craft techniques with modern methods, and is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, an industry body that sets standards for ethical sourcing and working practices in the supply chain.
Celebrity and Spanish jewellery
Using well-known faces to present seasonal collections has become standard practice for Spanish jewellers, and Ibiza — where Rabat has a shop — is one of the places where summer pieces are most on show. For the brand, Rivera’s relaxed style suits a collection designed to be worn on holiday rather than kept for special occasions.
