Hestia Menorca has confirmed the departures of several of the key players from its most successful season, beginning a major rebuild of the squad for 2026–27.
Zurbriggen
The biggest loss is Argentine point guard Fernando Zurbriggen, who became one of the stars of the league during his time in Menorca. In its farewell message on social media, the club said it was very difficult to make so much impact on the island in such a short time, calling him an MVP in capital letters.
Zurbriggen has since signed for Movistar Estudiantes.
Other departures
Three more players are leaving:
- Emmanuel Wembi
- Jaume Lobo
- Spencer Littleson
They join others who will not continue at the club next season, including guard Jalen Cone.
Who stays
- Pol Figueras: the Catalan point guard has renewed and will be back next season.
- Kyle Greeley: the American forward is the only other player already under contract for 2026–27.
A familiar problem
Hestia Menorca enjoyed a brilliant 2025–26 season, finishing near the top of Primera FEB. But success brings its own challenges for a club with a modest budget: players who perform well attract offers from bigger clubs that Menorca cannot match.
The rebuild
With only two players confirmed, coach Javier Zamora and the club’s management face a busy summer. They will need to find a new point guard, wings and inside players, and blend newcomers with the players who remain — while trying to preserve the identity and team spirit that made last season so successful.
Fans will be watching closely as the new squad takes shape, hoping that the club can once again find undervalued players capable of making the kind of impact Zurbriggen and his team-mates did.
