Staying safe
- Drink water regularly throughout the day.
- Wear a hat, sunglasses and light, loose clothing.
- Use sun cream of SPF 30 or more and reapply it every two hours.
- Avoid the sun and physical effort during the warning hours, from midday to 8pm.
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion — heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea — and move somewhere cool if you feel unwell.
With very dry air and high temperatures, the risk of wildfires is also high: avoid any activity that could cause a spark in the countryside.
