Mallorca faces another very hot week. Aemet has issued an amber warning for the interior of the island, where temperatures are expected to reach around 39°C, and a yellow warning for the rest of Mallorca except the Serra de Tramuntana, with highs near 37°C.
The week ahead
- The amber warning for the interior continues into Tuesday.
- Heat warnings are likely to remain in place until at least Saturday.
- Thursday could be the hottest day, with up to 42°C possible inland — close to the threshold for a red warning.
Why it is so hot
A mass of hot air is moving north from Africa, bringing not only high temperatures but also suspended dust, which can give the sky a hazy, milky appearance. Humidity, which had been unusually low, is rising, making the heat feel more oppressive, particularly in the afternoon.

Staying safe
- Drink water regularly, even if you are not thirsty.
- Wear light, loose clothing, a hat and sunglasses.
- Avoid outdoor activity in the middle of the day; early morning or after 8pm is best.
- Take breaks in the shade or in air-conditioned places.
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion — dizziness, headache, heavy sweating, nausea — and call 112 if symptoms are severe.
