Hestia Menorca seek a seventh straight win at Obradoiro

Javier Zamora's team, on a six-game winning run, face a strong Monbus Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela.

Hestia Menorca travel to Santiago de Compostela to face Monbus Obradoiro in Primera FEB, aiming to extend their winning run to seven games.

The streak

Javier Zamora’s team arrive in excellent form after six consecutive victories, the most recent a home win against Cantabria, which has lifted them up the table and into the fight for the play-off places.

A tough test

Obradoiro are one of the strongest teams in the league, and their home ground, the Multiusos Fontes do Sar, is one of the most demanding venues in Spanish basketball, with a passionate crowd. The Galicians have been in good form since their first meeting with Menorca.

That first game, at the Pavelló Menorca in December, ended in a home win for Hestia — a result the Menorcan players see as proof that they can compete with Obradoiro.

The keys

Zamora has stressed the need for solid defence, control of the rebounds and continued ball movement, and for avoiding the lapses in concentration that his team showed during parts of their last game.

The players say they are approaching the match with enthusiasm rather than fear, aware that Obradoiro will be a difficult opponent but confident in the team’s recent form.

A run of away games

The trip to Galicia is the first of several consecutive away matches for Hestia Menorca, a stretch that will test the depth of the squad and its ability to sustain its form away from home.

What a win would mean

A victory in Santiago would extend the club’s best run in years, consolidate its position in the top half of the table and send a strong message to the rest of the league about its ambitions for the end of the season.

For Menorcan basketball fans, the streak has rekindled enthusiasm for a club with a history in the top flight, at a time when the island’s sporting community is eager for a team capable of challenging for promotion.
