Rels B, the singer from Palma, brought his world tour to a close with a concert in front of more than 60,000 people at Madrid’s Metropolitano stadium — and made sure his home island was part of the night.
Mallorca on screen
The show opened with a video of the artist walking along a Mallorcan beach at sunset, an image he says always brings him luck. Later, he asked how many Mallorcans were in the crowd, and the cheers led straight into “Un verano en Mallorca”, one of his best-known songs.
From Son Gotleu to the stadium
The concert was a milestone in a remarkable career. Rels B — whose real name is Daniel Heredia — grew up in the Palma neighbourhood of Son Gotleu and worked in construction before music took off. He is now one of the most-streamed Spanish artists in the world, and his song “Amé” has passed a billion streams on Spotify.
The show
For around two and a half hours, he performed more than 40 songs from across his catalogue, backed by a live band and dancers. The stage opened at one point to reveal a recording studio. Highlights included “Amé”, performed towards the end of the night, and a powerful finale.
Guests
Several collaborators joined him on stage, including Maikel Delacalle, Recycled J, Dollar Selmouni and J Abecia.
A well-earned rest
The Madrid concert, billed as the final date of the tour, capped a year of sold-out shows in Spain, Europe and Latin America. Rels B hinted that after the tour he would take some time to rest — and it is a safe bet that some of it will be spent in Mallorca.
For the island, he has become one of its best-known cultural ambassadors, regularly referencing Palma and Mallorca in his songs and videos.
