Sant Lluís has launched another edition of its “Cultura a la vorera” (Culture on the pavement) programme, bringing free music and performing arts to the residential areas along its coast every Wednesday until 12 August.
An opening by the sea
The series opened at Binisafúller beach, where soprano Maria Camps, accompanied by a quartet including Pere Arguimbau, Lluís Gener and Guiem Pons, performed songs including “Sa nuvia d’Algendar” with the sea as a backdrop. It was the second performance of their Menorquinament project, which began in Alaior and is due to become an album.

Classical concerts in Pla de sa Creu
Two classical concerts complete the summer programme in the centre of Sant Lluís:
- 13 July: pianist Kiev Portella plays Chopin.
- 10 August: the group Gest Harmònic presents PlayBach.
Supporting island musicians
The organisers stress the importance of giving Menorcan musicians work and a stage in summer, when much of the island’s entertainment programming is aimed at tourists. The programme brings culture to the coastal neighbourhoods where many residents and visitors spend the summer, without having to travel to the island’s towns.
Why it works
Small, free, open-air concerts in neighbourhood settings have become one of the most popular formats in Menorca’s summer cultural life. With a mix of song, jazz, harp, crooner classics, pop and dance, “Cultura a la vorera” offers something for every taste — on residents’ doorsteps.
