Raül Timoner returns to Menorca to play for Sa Tintina Es Castell

The Alaior-born guard, formerly of Joventut's academy and Molina Basket, is the club's third summer signing.

Sa Tintina Es Castell have signed guard Raül Timoner, bringing the Menorcan player back to the island after several seasons away.

Who is Raül Timoner?

Timoner was born in Alaior in 1997. He has spent recent seasons with Molina Basket in Murcia, and before that came through the youth system at Joventut de Badalona and also spent time in US high school and college basketball, an experience that has given him a broad understanding of the game.

The third signing

Es Castell announced Timoner as their third signing of the summer, after Mohamed Issouf and Xavi Elvira. The club sees him as a player who can have an immediate impact in Tercera FEB.

His numbers

In his last full season with Molina, Timoner averaged:

Statistic Average
Minutes about 24
Points 6.7
Two-point shooting 40.2%
Free throws 65.4%
Rebounds 2.5
Assists 4.2

His assist figures show his value as a playmaker who creates for his team-mates.

What he brings

The club highlights his work ethic, technical quality, ability to read the game and competitive character. As a point guard who makes good decisions with the ball, he is expected to help organise the team’s attack and bring experience from a higher level.

Ambitions

Under coach Marc Díaz and sporting director Dani Sastre, Es Castell are building a squad to compete for the play-off places and push for promotion to Segunda FEB.

Signing a local player with experience outside the island also strengthens the club’s connection with Menorcan basketball fans, and gives younger players in Es Castell’s youth teams a role model who has played at a higher level and chosen to come home.
