The Ibiza Architecture and Construction Awards, organised by the company Ibiza Supplies, aim to recognise the work of the architects, builders and interior designers whose projects are shaping Ibiza and Formentera.
Why the awards were created
Ibiza Supplies says the islands are home to a large number of highly skilled professionals, and wanted to give their work the recognition it deserves, while encouraging them to keep raising standards.
A demanding market
Ibiza and Formentera attract international hotel brands and wealthy buyers looking for high-quality homes and holiday villas. That demand creates a competitive environment in which architects and builders must meet international standards while reflecting the islands’ Mediterranean character and strict planning rules.
What the judges will look for
Residential projects. The originality of the concept, how well the building fits its surroundings, respect for the environment and the functionality of the spaces.
Interior design. The organisers note a shift away from stark minimalism towards softer, curved forms and natural materials such as stone, wood and linen, creating warm interiors that blend inside and outside living.
Hotels. Many new hotel projects aim for sustainability certifications such as LEED or BREEAM, using lower-impact materials, energy-efficient systems and water-saving technology, in response to the environmental and social goals of investors and hotel brands.

The wider picture
Construction is one of the pillars of the Pitiusan economy, from luxury villas to hotel renovations. Awards like these highlight the quality of the best projects — at a time when the islands are also debating how much more building their limited territory can take, and how new construction can respect Ibiza’s traditional architecture and landscape.
