Hestia Menorca has confirmed the departure of centre Víctor Arteaga, one of the key figures of the club’s recent seasons.
A club stalwart
Arteaga, from Cuenca, spent three seasons with the club and was one of the few remaining players from its time in LEB Oro. He is one of only a handful of players to have played more than 100 games for Menorca, alongside names such as Pitu Jiménez, Diego Alderete and Pol Molins, and ranks among the club’s all-time top three in:
- points;
- rebounds;
- efficiency rating.
The coach’s tribute
Javi Zamora, the club’s coach and sports director, described Arteaga as one of the pillars on which the club’s Primera FEB project had been built. He praised his hard work, his sacrifice for the group and his professionalism, and said he had left his mark on the island both on and off the court.
Arteaga’s farewell
In a farewell message, Arteaga thanked the fans and everyone at the club, especially those who had supported him unconditionally. He said he was leaving with many memories, friends and great affection for the club and the island, and wished Hestia Menorca good luck.
A summer of change
Arteaga’s exit is the tenth departure from the squad this summer — eleven counting young player Fynn Schott — confirming a major overhaul after the club’s most successful season.
Will Adams Sola stay?
The club’s statement said Arteaga’s departure closed the chapter of summer exits. As Adams Sola, a product of Real Madrid’s youth system, was the only member of last season’s squad whose future had not been confirmed, the wording suggested that he could be set to stay.
The rebuild
With so many players leaving, Zamora faces the task of building an almost entirely new team for 2026–27. The challenge will be to replace not just the points and rebounds of players like Arteaga, but also their experience and leadership in the dressing room.
