Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the original Halo campaign, launches on 28 July 2026, marking 25 years since Halo: Combat Evolved. Developed by Halo Studios, it keeps the classic story while modernising the visuals and gameplay.
What’s included
The remake focuses entirely on the campaign, playable solo or in co-op. There is no competitive multiplayer, but online co-op, cross-play and shared progression between platforms are supported.
Platforms
The game is coming to Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S and — in a first for a mainline Halo campaign — PlayStation 5. It will also be available on Game Pass from launch.
PC requirements
All configurations require Windows 10 (22H2, 64-bit) or Windows 11, an SSD with at least 100 GB of free space, and Resizable BAR enabled.

PC features
- Unlocked frame rate.
- NVIDIA Reflex for lower latency.
- Upscaling options including DLSS, FSR, XeSS and Unreal’s TSR.
The range of upscaling technologies means that players with mid-range hardware should be able to get smooth performance at higher resolutions.
What the requirements tell us
The minimum specification is fairly accessible: a five- or six-year-old mid-range gaming PC should be able to run the game at 1080p. The 100 GB SSD requirement is significant, however, so check your free space before launch day.
For players who want 4K at 60 frames per second, a recent high-end graphics card and 32 GB of RAM will be needed.
A classic returns
The original Halo, released on the first Xbox in 2001, defined console shooters for a generation. A full remake on modern hardware, and its arrival on PlayStation, make Campaign Evolved one of the most significant releases for the series in years.
