Gasifred Atlético clears the decks before rebuilding its futsal squad

The Ibiza club confirms the departures of both goalkeepers and its top-scoring wingers after a historic seventh-place finish.

Gasifred Atlético, Ibiza’s futsal club, has announced a series of departures before turning its attention to the transfer market, leaving significant gaps in its squad for next season.

No goalkeepers

The exits of Raúl and Llopis leave the club without a goalkeeper for now. Signing at least one, and probably two, is a priority.

Defence

With Xavi Cols leaving, Hugo Alonso is the only specialist left in the most defensive position, so reinforcements will be needed there too.

Wingers hit hardest

The wings are the most affected area. Uge, Faly, Usama and Roger are all leaving — and they were among the team’s top scorers last season. Replacing their goals will be one of the biggest challenges of the summer.

Iker, Vargas and Valdés remain as wing options and will be expected to take on a bigger attacking role.

The pivots

The pivot position is the least affected. Pablo and Ricardo are leaving, but the club keeps its main attacking references there: the Argentine Caruso and the veteran Buitre.

A historic season

In its statement, the club thanked the departing players for their commitment and for their part in a historic season. Gasifred finished seventh in the league, just three points behind Ciudad de Móstoles, who took the last play-off place.

Rebuilding

The club’s priorities for the summer are:

  • one or two reliable goalkeepers;
  • depth in defence to support Hugo Alonso;
  • wingers capable of matching the goals of those who have left;
  • maintaining the strength of its pivot core.

A familiar challenge

For island clubs, rebuilding is complicated by the cost of living and housing in Ibiza, which makes it harder to attract players from the mainland. After its best season, Gasifred faces the task of keeping its momentum with a largely new squad — and the summer transfer window will go a long way towards deciding whether it can challenge for the play-offs again.
