Dying Light 2 gets The Breach, a free programme of new maps and community mods

Update 1.28 launches the first chapter, Survival Archives, with low-gravity parkour and rewards that carry over to the main game.

Techland has launched The Breach, a new content programme for Dying Light 2: Stay Human that adds maps created with invited creators, selected community mods and special game modes. It arrives with update 1.28, which is free for all owners of the game.

How it works

The Breach brings two types of content:

  • Maps made in collaboration with Techland and invited creators.
  • Community mods selected by the studio for their original ideas and fit with the Dying Light universe.

Every chapter is reviewed and approved by Techland, and new themed chapters will be released periodically.

Chapter one: Survival Archives

The first chapter features scenarios in which the familiar characters Tolga and Fatin have altered reality, with gameplay twists including:

  • third-person sections;
  • low-gravity parkour;
  • extreme survival challenges;
  • experimental modifiers.

Experience, weapons and equipment earned in The Breach carry over to the main game.

Improvements to the base game

Update 1.28 also improves the early hours of Dying Light 2:

  • better-balanced early fights;
  • more generous loot to help new players progress;
  • visual improvements, including sharper environments, better lighting in cutscenes and refined colours;
  • fixes for problems reported by players.

What’s next

Techland will publish a roadmap previewing the themes of future chapters.

Why it matters

Dying Light 2 was released in 2022, and Techland has continued to support it with free updates long after launch. Bringing community creators into official content is a way of keeping the game fresh and rewarding its most dedicated players — a strategy increasingly common among developers who want to extend the life of their games without charging for every addition.
