Legacy of the Giant-Kings: what Conan Exiles players need to know before 21 July

The free four-part story begins beneath the Nameless City, adds a new character, Akhamet, and a way to repair legendary gear.

Funcom and Inflexion Games have set 21 July as the start date for Legacy of the Giant-Kings, a story arc for Conan Exiles Enhanced that will be released in four free instalments. Here is what players can expect.

Why now

Conan Exiles Enhanced has given the eight-year-old survival game a new lease of life, with more than 47,000 people playing at the same time at its recent peak — its best figure since launch. The developers want to use that momentum to give both returning and new players a reason to keep exploring.

Chapter one: under the Nameless City

The first instalment takes players underground, beneath the ruins of the Nameless City, into the Cyclopean Halls. It is a darker, dungeon-style area full of clues about the vanished Giant-Kings.

Players will meet Akhamet, a new character who acts as a guide and helps piece together the history of the Giant-Kings, with new dialogue and quests that tie into the wider lore of the Exiled Lands.

Repairing legendary gear

The most practical change is one the community has been asking for: legendary weapons and armour can now be repaired. Until now, these rare items gradually wore out and were eventually lost. The means of repairing them is hidden deep in the new area, so players will have to earn it.

The rest of the arc

Three further chapters will follow over the coming months, each free. They are expected to bring:

  • new areas linked to ancient forces awakening beneath the Exiled Lands;
  • more missions for both solo players and clans;
  • further revelations about the Giant-Kings.

Before you jump in

  • Make sure your game is updated on PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
  • Stock up on supplies and light sources before heading underground.
  • Keep your damaged legendary items rather than scrapping them — they can soon be restored.

For a game built on survival and exploration, a steady stream of free story content is a strong incentive for lapsed players to return to the Exiled Lands.
