The graphic design of Així sona Menorca (This is how Menorca sounds), an exhibition at the Museu de Menorca, has won a Bronze Laus award in the exhibition graphics category. The design is the work of Roseta Mus.
The awards
The Laus Awards, organised by the ADG-FAD design association, are among the most important awards for graphic design and visual communication in Spain. This year’s ceremony was held at the Disseny Hub in Barcelona.
A successful partnership
It is not the first time Mus and the museum have been recognised. Their collaboration has earned several Laus awards, including a Gold Laus for the exhibition Arqueologia urbana.
Mus said the award belongs to both her and the museum, noting that the Laus recognise not only designers but also the institutions that commission and promote their work. She praised the museum’s team and described the collaboration as easy and rewarding.
The exhibition
Així sona Menorca takes visitors on a journey through 400 years of Menorcan music, exploring how songs, instruments and musical traditions have shaped the island’s society, economy and culture — from church music and opera, which had a strong following in Maó, to popular song.
The exhibition team included:
- Scientific curator: musicologist Laura Triay.
- Technical curators: Montserrat Anglada and David Cabré.
- Project direction: Carolina Desel.
A personal connection
For Mus, the project had special meaning: her father, Tòfol Mus Reynés, wrote the lyrics of “Escolta es vent”, one of the songs featured in the exhibition.
Design and heritage
The award highlights the role of graphic design in making museum exhibitions accessible and engaging. Good exhibition design turns research into an experience: it guides the visitor, organises information and creates an atmosphere that helps people connect with the subject — in this case, the sounds that have accompanied Menorcan life for centuries.
